Homes and Hope Half Marathons

Homes and Hope Half Marathons

March – A Marathon of Two Halves. Our Chairman, Barrie Stephenson has raised enough money to provide more than 180 nights in a Restore house by running two half marathons. For each night someone who is homeless lives in one of our rooms we have to raise £8. Thanks to the generosity of his sponsors he raised more than £1,400.

Barrie completed his first half marathon in York and passed his first fundraising target of 100 nights – £800. To raise that amount he ran a route that passed every house where Restore provides rooms. It meant running about 22km.

The next Homes and Hope Half Marathon was an organised event in Coventry on March 24th. Why Coventry? – that’s where his brother lives and they’re running together. Barrie was looking for sponsors for that run to reach a target of £1,200 for 150 nights, but our generous donors broke through that total raising more than £1,400.

Barrie says, “I love running, it keeps me fit but the added benefit on these longer challenges is that I can invite sponsorship to help Restore provide homes and hope for people homeless in York. This month people have shown amazing generosity, so much so I have had to raise my fundraising target. For me it’s a double win.”

This is a great opportunity to help people who are homeless in York. The fundraising page is still open. How many nights can you donate?
