Our Process

All referrals are managed by City of York Council and prospective Restore residents’ details are forwarded to our office. Once received, we’ll run a risk assessment and if we feel that we are able to support them, they will be called for an interview at our office to discuss their situation, hopes for the future and expectations as a Restore resident.

If someone is found unsuitable for our project, we will liaise with the council to look for other suitable accommodation as soon as possible.

Timeline

Most people are living at Restore for around 12 months before moving on, but this is sometimes longer or shorter depending on the individual's needs. Get an idea of the process below.

Resident Stories

To date we’ve supported over 400 people in Restore accommodation, with 29% going onto employment and 25% accessing education.

Meet the Residents

Meet Vinny

Vinny had been living in his van for several years, after realising the negative impact on both his physical and mental well-being, he reached out for help.

Meet Faye

Faye became homeless after a relationship breakdown, without Restore Faye believes she would still be unwell and making no progress.

Meet Barry

After a relationship breakdown, Barry became homeless and went between rough sleeping and temporary accommodation before self-referring to the council.

"We first came across Restore around 18 months ago, and since then we’ve felt really lucky to work alongside them. The way they support people at risk of homelessness with such care and compassion is truly inspiring. They do exactly what they say they do - and they follow it through with integrity and heart. We’ve really valued the partnership and everything they stand for. It’s been a pleasure to work with a team whose values are so in tune with ours."
